The possibilities of boosting the tourist flow to Greece from the Chinese market and issues that, if resolved, could facilitate it, were the focus of a meeting held by the President of FedHATTA, Lysandros Tsilidis, with senior officials of the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism, on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the Federation’s offices in Athens.

A large part of the discussion focused on the expertise that FedHATTA has on key issues of Greek tourism legislation, and specifically on the way in which third-country professionals should operate in Greece through Greek travel agencies.

Of particular interest was the effort to find a common code in the operation of travel agencies, normalizing the bilateral cooperation in the sector between the two countries.

Emphasis was placed on avenues for promoting Chinese destinations in the Greek market, something that the Federation has already started by taking the initiative for regular contacts with delegations from regional tourism organisations in China.

The Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism was represented by the Director of the Ministry’s Department of Resource Development, Wang Heyun, the Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Reform and Publicity Development of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Li Xiao Feng, the Deputy Director of the Ministry’s Department of Resource Development, Nie Di and the Director of Sinosyn Cultural Exhibition Company, Tian Jianxing. The meeting was coordinated by the President of the Hellenic Union of Professionals of the Overseas Chinese Tourism, Peter Chang.
