The two Associations represented the Greek travel agencies and tour operators at EXPO Japan with their participation in the GNTO stand. The exhibition, organized by the Japan Travel and Tourism Association, the Japan Travel Agents Association (JATA) and the Japan National Tourism drew 1,384 exhibitors from 80 countries and destinations around the world, and 182,900 visitors this year.

The theme of this year’s EXPO Japan, which was organized for the first time in 2014, was “Travel, An Encounter With New Value Awaits.” During the 4-day event, the Greek tourism professionals had the opportunity to get connect with their Japanese counterparts, promoting Greece as an ideal destination for the Japanese and giving impetus to the two-way development of tourist flows between Greece and Japan.

A total of 1,050 sellers and 736 buyers participated in the exhibition, who conducted 6,239 scheduled business meetings.

The president of FedHATTA, Lysandros Tsilidis, said: “Having already developed, for years, the business ties of Greek travel agencies with the Japanese market, FedHATTA and HATTA continue to revitalize markets that have weakened in recent years for Greece, like the Japanese one. The Japanese market, as we found once again through our presence at Tourism EXPO Japan 2024, has great prospects for Greek tourism, especially in light of 2024 being the “Japan-Greece Year of Culture and Tourism”. The Greek travel agencies continue to strengthen their cooperation with Japanese professionals, with the aim of strengthening the tourist flow from this market.”
